Descripción : The present document evaluates the environmental sound impact produced by the Oswaldo Guayasamín tunnel, on the population that is located in the nearby sectors. Two impact evaluation methods are presented: the first is a quantitative method, where a digital model of the environment is made, validated through noise measurements, to identify the zones of influence generated by tunnel noise. The noise measurements are in reference to environmental noise assessment regulations such as UNE EN ISO 1996-2. For the qualitative method, acoustic surveys are carried out to know the perception that the inhabitants have about the noise and the inconvenience that it causes. The survey was carried out with 86 inhabitants who live in the areas most affected by tunnel noise. The results of the impact evaluation indicate that there are areas affected by tunnel noise, with sound levels that exceed the value recommended by international regulations. Likewise, it was identified that there are inhabitants affected by the noise of the tunnel. In the part of the surveys, it shown that there is annoyance due to the noise of the tunnel and the negative affects it produces. Finally, based on the results obtained in the impact evaluation, certain noise mitigation measures are established that can help control the acoustic quality of the Guayasamín tunnel environment.
