Resumen : Un factor fundamental en el crecimiento de un niño es la construcción de su identidad, por medio de ésta un ser humano reconoce su procedencia, se entiende a sí mismo y valora aquellos elementos culturales que son particulares de cada nación...
Descripción : A fundamental factor in the growth of a child is the construction of their identity; through this, a human being recognizes its origin, understands itself and appreciate those cultural elements that are particular to each nation. In this way, he or she develops its sense of belonging and establishes solid foundations on its origin, which will also influence in its security and future projection. However, the absence of this factor is notorious in new generations, which has led to the devaluation of their own national characteristics. Thus, it demonstrates the lack of relevance that is given to the identity within the curricular planning in schools and colleges. For this reason, the research adopts a methodology whose approach is qualitative, with socio-educational modality, level of descriptive depth, and of bibliographic and field type. In this way, it focuses on defining and clarifying the aspects that make up the culture and that contribute to the growth of identity. Concluding that the Ecuadorian legends become an alternative for the development of the identity in children of first of basic because it allows the teacher to work a wide range of activities according to and interesting for this age, but also exposes in its content information originating in the country that encourages the knowledge, understanding and appropriation of customs, traditions and other cultural aspects that are unique to the nation. With this purpose, a didactic guide is proposed in which legends of the four regions of the country are detailed and how they are adapted in order to support class topics. Facilitating in this way the construction of identity at an early age.
