Resumen : La seguridad del paciente es un tema de mucha importancia que debe ser tratado, aplicado y estudiado…
Descripción : Patient safety is a very important issue that must be treated, applied and studied. With the proposed book "Errar es humano" of the Institute of Medicine (US) Committee on Quality of Health Care in America, a series of integral parameters has been established between local and state sectors, which is based, mainly, on the improvement of medical attention that can substantially reduce the number of adverse events caused by errors in health care. Thus, this study aimed to determine the perception of teachers of the School of Dentistry of the University of the Americas on the culture of Patient Safety at the Institution. To this end, the Safe Attitudes Index (IAS) was analyzed through the Safety Attitudes Questionnarie, comparing the IAS among teachers according to the time they work in the Dental Care Center and identifying the categories where the teachers perceive an IAS under , which will serve as a guide for the design and planning of improvement actions. The six scales of the culture proposed by the SAQ were evaluated: team work climate, safety climate, job satisfaction, leadership perceptions, working conditions and recognition of stress; which yielded results above the aceptable average suggested by Sexton, with which it was concluded that the level of safety culture in the Dental Care Center of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Americas is about the target values that must reach the Health Institutions.
