Descripción : The purpose of this study is to compare the premature loss of temporary pieces in boys and girls of 5-7 years in 2 educational centers: 1 public (Educational Unit “Domingo Faustino Sarmiento”) and 1 private (School “Santiago Apóstol de Fe y Alegría”) located in the city of Quito-Ecuador. A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out, identifying two sample groups with 186 children from the private school and 160 from the public school, with ages ranging from 5 to 7 years. The students did not present syndromes that make it difficult to visualize the teeth. This study took place in the months of November and December of 2017 with children who regularly attend the educational centers in the 2017-2018 academic period. The results obtained in terms of prevalence were 12,174%, with 11.89% in the private public school and 12.50% in the public school, without this difference being statistically significant (p equal 0.90). When analyzing the behavior in response to sex, a rate of 12.4% was determined for girls and 11.9% for boys, with no apparent relationship between the variables (p equal 0.87). Finally, in relation to age, a rate of 13.1% was established for boys and girls of 6 years, 12.1% for those of 7 years and 11.7 for those of 5 years.
