Descripción : Dental anxiety is an emotion of uneasiness, very common in the dental office, especially when performing invasive procedures such as periodontal treatment. For this reason, it is necessary to know the levels of anxiety that the patients present with a periodontal treatment. This study is a non-experimental, descriptive, observational and prospective cross-sectional type. Objective: To evaluate the level of anxiety presented by patients from 18 to 75 years of age who attend the dental clinic of the “Universidad De Las Americas” prior to periodontal treatment. Materials and methods: Through the use of a mathematical formula, 49 patients were obtained as a sample (25 women and 24 men) between 18 and 75 years of age were chosen, they were surveyed to measure the level of dental anxiety (DAS), patients answered according to how they felt at that time. Results: The highest level of anxiety was moderate, in male patients of higher education level, between 18 and 30 years of age. Conclusion: It was determined that the age range between 18 to 30 years of age, presented 50% mild anxiety and 50% moderate anxiety. In contrast, patients between 51 and 75 years of age had the lowest level of anxiety (60% mild anxiety). Regarding gender, it was found that the male gender is the most anxious, which presented levels of moderate anxiety, unlike the female gender, which presented levels of mild anxiety. Finally, taking into account the level of education, it was found that the level of higher education obtained a higher level of anxiety.
