Descripción : Noise is an environmental problem that has grown, due to industrialize activities. For the greater well-being of humans and the co-existence with fauna and flora in this world, it is necessary to comply with current legal regulations of maximum allowed limits of sound pressure level. High noise levels have consequences like: the irreversible hearing loss and several psychological problems. The objective of this research is to recommend corrective measures that will reduce occupational and environmental noise, to improve life quality of the inhabitants, which are surrounding the plant. The used methods for measuring the sound pressure levels were: in the in the company exterior were taken with the use of NTI audio XL2 sonometry equipment and the measurements at the company interior were performed with the use of Cirrus Research plc dose Badge Reader dosimeter equipment. Once the results of the measurements were obtained, an analysis was made with the aid of the CadnaA software of noise maps modeling and an analysis of the TWA dose (Time-weighted average) in decibels that each worker is exposed to, inside the company. The assessment of sound pressure levels from environmental noise were obtained from machinery that influences the boundaries of noise limits, and these are: the emergency electric generator N.1 that produces an average of 90,3 dB and the generator N.2 an average of 92,0 dB; both are automatically switched on once a week during a certain period of time. On the other hand, the wastewater treatment plant emits an average of 67,0 dB and the ventilation systems an average of 66,2 and 71,1 dB. For occupational noise results, these were measured in relation with personal dosimetry from workers and it was determined that two workers exceeded the 85 dB dose rate with 85,2 and 89,0 dB. Every assessment was compared with the current regulation of the country to determine proposals that will help with the compliance of the maximum allowed limits. In conclusion, in James Brown Pharma it is recommended to implement corrective actions of noise, like acoustic barriers for the emergency electric generators, for the boiler, for the wastewater treatment plant, and noise reduction to the grille fan window ventilation, because of the high sound pressure levels that these fixed sources release. The good practice of wearing hearing protective equipment, control of noise exposure, and audiometric controls for the workers from the plant is also recommended.
