Descripción : The science and technology gradual development allowed to man to develop new methods and applications to simplify and automate processes of all kinds to keep man always connected and able to access from any place to the pertinent information that he needs and so Immediately. The development of these applications involves communication systems able to withstand the great demand of data transfer, in a world that as time passes the information of books, sheets and notebooks takes it to a virtual state; In other words, it is stored virtually. The LTE or Long Term Evolution standard, proposed by 3GPP and under recommendations of the ITU-R, suggests an alternative to offer high data transfer rates in mobile systems; Putting aside 2G and 3G technologies that are not capable of supporting sophisticated software that works in real time. In Ecuador, the inclusion of this technology has been no exception. Currently 3 mobile operators already offer it, but have not managed to cover even a large part of the national territory, and that is the case of the city of Ibarra where the LTE network coverage is very limited. The content of this work recommends a methodology for the design of LTE networks, and has taken as an example the city of Ibarra. The development of this proposal contemplates a real scenario for the analysis of users’ statistics, current technical considerations; As well as the use of modern tools that have allowed to unite the theory with the practice and has facilitated to understand how to manage a correct planning for the design of the LTE network. This methodology serves as a procedure for installing an LTE network. Among the software used are: Google Earth that allowed the visualization of the city of Ibarra and the location of antennas, Global Mapper facilitated the obtaining of a digital map with the geographical characteristics of Ibarra, which mainly includes terrain heights, and finally Atoll has allowed to graph the coverings and to review the behavior of the radio waves in the virtual LTE network.
