Descripción : Nosocomial infections by cross-transmissions by dentists, students and patients are constantly given directly or indirectly in the operating room, by contaminated instruments, by infectious-contagious drops that evaporate during surgical practices or transmitted through the dryers of hands in bathrooms of the faculty of dentistry. The objective of this study was to identify the microbial diversity present on the dental equipment surfaces of the operating room of the dental clinic and to evaluate the effectiveness of the biosecurity and the action of the disinfectants used. As a method, surfaces were examined using Q-Swab system swabs and Chromocult, PCA plaques on the dental chair surfaces, light lamp, work table and triple syringe, both before beginning clinical care and the end of the day. The results indicated microbial contamination of: Mesophilic Aerobes, Mohos, Yeasts and Coliforms especially in the surfaces of the dental chair and lamp of light, in which there was greater microbiological population initiated the clinical attention to the patients.
