Descripción : This paper is main objective was to describe the differences in body image satisfaction levels in a sample of adolescent men and women from SEK international School Quito, considering demographic factors associated to body image. This is a quantitative study which extracted information from a sample composed by 80 male and 80 female students between the ages of 15 and 18 years old, through the implementation of a standardized questionnaire design to measure body image satisfaction (Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire). Likewise, participants were surveyed in order to obtain data from relational status, and self-perceived weight and height. Inferential statistic was used to study the interaction between variables of age, relationship status and self-reported BMI, relative to body image satisfaction by gender groups. This analysis shows that woman is satisfaction has a tendency to decrease as self-reported BMI increases. Likewise it was observed that women who reported having a boyfriend are significantly more satisfied than those who do not. In the male group none of these variables seems to have an impact on their body image satisfaction.
