Descripción : This research addresses an important issue such as dental care visually impaired patients. The consulted scientific literature states that the care of these patients in dental offices, should consider certain types of requirements, given the conditions of patients and fundamentally should not be discriminated against because of their limitations, but rather provide care with a human face and apply techniques to facilitate the relationship between dentist and patient. An important aspect to consider is the identification of the degree of visual impairment, because accordingly may choose different strategies to facilitate care in dental offices. The main objective of the research was to develop a handbook in Braille for Promotion of Oral Health in Blind people for “Mariana de Jesus” Foundation of the city of Quito. This is an observational and descriptive study worked with a population of 30 children s blind of “Mariana de Jesus” Foundation of Quito and visually impaired patients seen by students in the clinic UDLA. The results suggest that: By using Braille and representative models, the children s blind people learned the importance of dental prophylaxis. The use of printed material for instruction was essential, because it facilitated learning. A noticeable difference after receiving training was observed, improved knowledge demonstrating that training using the Braille system had a great impact. Know the correct frequency of tooth brushing, do not place the dough around the brush, do it in recommended proportions they are autonomous in tooth brushing and practice it at the recommended frequency. They know the benefits of a healthy diet and do not eat foods that cause tooth damage.
