Descripción : When there is a loss of teeth, one option is replace it with a tooth-supported prosthesis; this treatment must verify several biomechanical factors to avoid the failure of it. The literature suggests based the studies on the proportion crown - root the length of the pillars and their relationship to the supporting tissues. Our overall objective of this study was to establish by a radiographic analysis the importance of the law of Ante taking into account the periodontal support of the roots for fixed prosthesis placement at the posterior segment. It was taken sixty radiographs of patients of both sexes for this investigation. Between the ages of 30-70 years with fixed tooth-supported prostheses in premolars and molars as pillars. Radiographs were taken in the radiology center Cefalometrix with an image distortion 20 percent, all these radiographs were selected according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion; samples were taken on December and January. It measures the length of the crown and the tooth root to analyze the relationship crown- root. It measures the height of the bone crest to compare with the length of the roots and determine bone loss with Rochefort and cols classification. The analytical study was observational and crosssectional; data obtained were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA test. As a result it was found that the ratio of the root length and the height crestal bone presented a significant data. Decreased bone crest against dental pillars with roots classified in the range of “barely acceptable “and “poor” does not fulfil with the Law of Ante according to the bone support and produce greater deflection risking the prognosis of the prosthesis. As recommendations for further studies, we suggest conducting research with larger numbers of dental pillars and Taking canines as part of the sample.
