Resumen : Esmeraldas también conocida como la provincia verde es una ciudad que se caracteriza por su cultura de origen africano, tradiciones y costumbres, las mismas que se identifican a través de la música y la danza...
Descripción : Esmeraldas, also named as “La Provincia Verde”, is a city known for its culture, traditions and customs of African origin that are identified through music and dance. The people from Esmeraldas are recognized by their extended folklore using various musical instruments such as the “cununo” (elongated drums), “guasá” (similar to a rattle) and “marimba”. Such instruments when fused create great melodies that are used for all the cultural activities carried out in the city and also, represent the artistic potential that its inhabitants possess. The Municipal Conservatory is a building located in the city is downtown between Juan Montalvo and Pedro Vicente Maldonado streets. For many years, this building has been used for many purposes and nowadays, even though it has a prestigious location surrounded by many places easily recognized by the inhabitants, the establishment has no defined activity to be used for. For this reason, this project proposes the creation of a Cultural Center of Music and African Dance in the actual Municipal Conservatory, a place provided with functional, pleasant, and welcoming spaces for cultural activities, learning environments based on theoretical and practical workshops, and art exhibitions presented on a Brand new showroom and stage, in order to grant the community a permanent place to perform these activities and gain cultural knowledge by hosting expressions of the city is culture. The conceptual design idea will focus on a fundamental element, the “Marimba”, which is a musical instrument common in all cultural activities. For this, it has been taken to account the instrument of shapes, colors that include a wide range of brown, and the materials used for its construction, to apply concepts of interior design for walls, floors, ceilings, lighting, furniture and vegetation, creating a space where cultural familiarity and atmosphere will be felt. Without doubt, Esmeraldas own culture is an icon that represents its traditions and customs, and this is why there must be a place that encourages people to be part of this training and allows them to establish a sense of belonging.
