Descripción : An urban analysis was developed in the 2012 - 2013 period on the axis of the Avenida 10 de Agosto Quito, right on the section between Park La Alameda and the south end of the new Parque Bicentenario (Labrador sector). The study showed us the avenue condition, recognizing a whole range of possibilities and problems such as the absence of equipment (according to the Normative de Arquitectura y Urbanismo of the DMQ and the results of the investigated data), which becomes a component of the urban architectural intervention design. This work was made in order to implement a new model of education building for people with intellectual disabilities, a facility that sees the specific and general needs for this kind of project. This Education Center has to cover the high demand for people with this type of disability who fail to achieve a level of study that allows them to get an economic autonomy in their lives. The Institute also named the main principles of the Plan del Buen Vivir, promoting education for all, emphasizing in the social and labor inclusion of all people with disabilities in Ecuador. The Special Education Center is located on the Avenida 10 de Agosto and Avenida República, resulting location of an urban-architectural of the sector. The green area predominates in the plot of land chosen for the project, which was used as the main design element, keeping the most current vegetation. The project concept is based on the transition of activities such as rehabilitation, education and training; applying spaces where the user gets in touch directly with nature (tangible or visually), establishing short and curvilinear distances, which manage the use of textures and natural light to cause different sensations (sensory-spatial stimulation) in students. The volume of the project comes from the zoning used by the concept, plot of land shapes and in order to preserve the forested areas with different types of vegetation; some measure reach 20 meters high. The program consists of green areas along the project, general and specialized classrooms for each one of student needs, either group or individual classrooms; job training workshops; rehabilitation areas (sensory and physical); housing and complementary areas such as administration, waiting rooms, multipurpose rooms, library, auditorium, nurses, cafeteria and parking. One of the most important aspects of the project is to support families and their integration into different activities of the Institute, so it could be designed spaces for education and teaching. According to study their collaboration in the center and outside it is vital to the improvement and development of a person with disabilities.
