Resumen : La Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de las Américas tiene como parte de la formación de los estudiantes, el manejo integral en la comprensión del fenómeno urbano arquitectónico...
Descripción : The Faculty of Architecture currently is partly training students in integrated management and understanding the urban-architectural phenomenon in Quito. The development of any architectonic object is linked and part of the urban-architectural phenomenon and this proposal implements an innovative pedagogical method that allows the investigation and understanding of the urban-architectural phenomenon within the context of the Metropolitan District of Quito, according to the proposed Urban Management Plan. Although this proposal (Urban Management Plan of the Valley of Pomasqui) has been developed as a general theme in the ninth semester's workshop, a furthering of this proposal will contribute to the development of the architectural and urban projects. These projects are essential to support the proposal for territorial development and have ramifications on economic, social, cultural, environmental, technological and urban development in this context. The proposal originates from the dictate of the original Urban Management Plan (POU) Pomasqui Valley that regulates the natural built environment incorporating components of natural and built heritage landmarks, archaeological sites, historic Parish centers (Pomasqui and San Antonio) and protected natural areas. It is imperative to protect, preserve and conserve these components to retain its value and existence there of whiten the territory. Therefore, it is necessary to make this proposal to the Regulatory Urban Planning and Landscape Committee at the same time complimenting and supporting the Urban Management Plan of the Valley of Pomasqui to establish a clear set of parameters, guidelines and standards that address the urban and natural landscape. This will facilitate and incorporate a systematic development of urban, architectural and environmental strategies within the sector thus improving and enriching the overall quality of life of the current and future inhabitants.
