Descripción : The research focused on understanding the psychological impact on parents who have to deal with the birth of a child with cerebral palsy, this research was performed previously knowing that in the country there are no studies on the psychological impact on parents, or in families with children with a disability. However, through the Manuela Espejo Brigade program performed by the Vice President of the Republic, it tries to meet effectively the needs of people with any disability, but there isn’t a study to point exclusively psychological needs of parents and families who have to go through a process of this magnitude. From there the importance of public health centers in Ecuador with attention to these patients (children with disabilities) know the psychological impact on parents that arrival of a child under these conditions, so that, subsequently, on the basis of this study, we can design programs that enable to the parents understand, manage and assimilate the particular situations in which they will develop their children. The main objectives were to identify areas with greater psychological impact on the parents after the birth of a child in these conditions, as well as knowing the main abilities and skills that parents were getting, and to know what they were social implications of the birth of your child. This is a qualitative research, is a descriptive study based on Grounded Theory. The main results were unable to identify the main reactions, emotions, thoughts, and feelings in parents following the diagnosis of their children, and also to know how was the adaptation process in the course of the disease, current situation faced, showing that for parents the emotional support received was highly important to overcome the condition of your children.
