dc.description | The following research was carried out in the L12 laboratory of the UDLA, Queri, where a column of acrylic treatment was constructed, taking bibliographic data and design criteria, to then carry out experimental tests, with 3 repetitions, which consisted of placing different granulometries of limestone (5-10, 15-20, 25-30) mm, to know the residence time of the system with the help of a tracer. The best treatment was chosen using an ANOVA. Then, 120 liters of acid drainage water (AMD) was collected at the exit of a mining project in the Portovelo Canton, Provincia del Oro, to carry out the project on an experimental scale. The AMD underwent a treatment that was based on using a 15 gallon tank connected to an upflow column through a submersible pump, which contained limestone with a particle size of 5mm to 10mm obtained from the experimental design. PH, Fe, and Cu measurements were taken at the beginning and at the end of the treatment in a certified laboratory. The initial pH value of AMD was 1.99 and the treated was 7.24; and the percentage of removal was: Fe (99.9 per cent) and Cu (99.1 per cent). This treatment system has a high removal of metals put to study and in accordance with the results obtained from the laboratory, the discharge complies with the national environmental regulations. | en |
