Descripción : Background: Volleyball is a sport that has been characterized for being practiced worldwide and for being one of the safest. (Bere, Kruczynski, Veintimilla, Hamu and Bahr, 2015). However, as in any sport, it presents the risk of acquiring an injury. Among the most common injuries in this practice is the sprained ankle, being its habitual recurrence the instability in said articulation (Cisneros Fuentes, 2016). Therefore, most athletes who have already suffered an initial sprain, will develop ankle instability, having a great chance of having a sprain even of greater severity (Attenborough et al., 2014). Objetive: To analyze the effect of Bosú as a proprioceptive exercise, in ankle instability, in male volleyball players between 20 and 29 years of age. Materials and methods: Twelve male athletes between the ages of 20 and 29 belonging to the “Club Ducks” Specialized Sports Training Club participated in the study; the instability of the ankle joint was evaluated by means of the anterior drawer test, the joint range in the ankle movements of plantiflexion, dorsiflexion, eversion and inversion with the use of the universal goniometer and finally the strength of the muscle groups was evaluated. They perform the movements of plantiflexion, dorsiflexion, eversion and inversion through the ball of COBS. The athletes were evaluated before and after the execution of proprioceptive exercises with the use of Bosú, with a duration of four weeks, two weekly sessions for forty-five minutes. A T-student was used to identify the divergences of the different measurements of muscular strength and range of motion and the Macnemar test with the Stata 15-0 program for instability. Results: When analyzing the three variables it is study that are: instability, joint range and muscular strength the results were: A significant increase in muscle strength with a p equal to 0.0001 for the muscle groups responsible for movements of the ankle joint in: dorsiflexion, plantiflexion, inversion and eversion. Being the plantiflexores and dorsiflexores muscles that had a considerable increase compared to the muscles. Conclusion: The application of proprioceptive exercises is effective by increasing the strength of the muscles that perform the movements of the ankle, does not eliminate the instability of this articulation and does not increase or decrease the ROM in male volleyball players between 2 0 and 29 years of age.
