Descripción : The general objective of this study is to understand the discomfort that teachers of U.D.L.A. University arise because of their professional practice. The specific objectives of this study are: Identify the presence and severity of pain or discomfort of teachers UDLA Clinic, identify the location and time of pain duration, pain severity relate to the years of practice and hour workday, know whether respondents performed some physical activity during their professional practice. The data collection method is through surveys made to the dental staff about the risks, knowledge and perception of the consequences for their professional practice. The results reported back half lumbar spine and lower back are the areas with severe pain on the scale of five points. Followed by pain in the neck, shoulders and hands (fingers). Hands (fingers) reported to be the only area in which two teachers (5 percent) reported severe pain. The region least affected by pain was the popliteal region, where twenty-two teachers (55 percent) reported no pain. In conclusion, most teachers said they feel discomfort or moderate to strong pain at some point in their profession, although this does not prevent the exercise of their career. Two teachers also reported feeling unbearable pain at some point in their profession. According to most of the professionals evaluated the duration of these problems does not exceed the daily hour or three years of continuity. The most affected areas are the middle back pain and lumbar spine lower back. The awkward postures during the clinical practice are common and lack of physical activity is also common in dentists that were evaluated.
