Descripción : This investigation had the objective of analyzing the major fungicides in tomato, soil and water of this crop using the technique of Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) which currently provides greater specificity and sensitivity in the analysis. A crop investigated sells its product to the market of Quito, taking four samples of food, soil and water. The samples were rigorously prepared under specific technical procedures for the chromatographic analysis. The results obtained found not only fungal but also acaricides, nematicides and insecticides which are applied in this type of cultivation, being the last ones more applied than fungicides because of cultivation location and climatologic conditions of sierra. These results led to determine which amount of pesticides and make a comparison of its residual with the maximum residue limits established by the Codex Alimentarius and the European Union in the case of the tomato and the TULAS for soil and water. From the total of pesticides applied, seven were found in the samples analyzed, four of them showed a numerical result and three showed a value below the limit of quantification of the standards. Most of them were found consistently in all soil and water samplings, even though its level did not exceed the values permitted by legislation, estimated the risk of environmental contamination turned out to be moderated and important for the health of consumers and farmers, as well as of biota. In conclusion it is important to monitor and control the use of pesticides in the agricultural sector through the establishment of specific rules both the environmental and elementary levels using the maximum allowed national residuals and a monitoring programs to guarantee its accomplishment.
