Descripción : The Children Development Center North - INFA, takes care of about 300 children between 8 months and 4 years, as part of the Children Development Program conducted by the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion, MIES. This research found that children spend 70 por ciento of their time in the Center under activities aimed, while the remaining 30 por ciento lack of specific activities, just awaiting for their parents to pick them up or the beginning of some other activity. In this context, the project is focused on the develop of an equipment that allows the children to make a good use of this free time, in order to continue with the stimulation even outside of the classes. For this purpose we have used the design method proposed by Munari, where a careful dismember of the problem allows us to identify as many variables to be taken into consideration for finding a proper solution. After analyzing the information obtained from the field research, data collection and research literature, we came out with the conclusion that the Children Development Center required a tool that provides selfstimulation of the gross motor area of children between 2 and 3 years old, that could be also used outdoors. Thus obtained a proposal of a modular system made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and Eva Foam, which enables teachers to create child work stations of balance and orientation with levels of difficulty. This project, named NIMO, has important features in the segment of population such as versatility, easy to handle it and security.
