The sale of raw milk of goat has become a regular activity in several locations around the south of the Metropolitan District of Quito. Every morning, people go out looking for this product. They believe that the milk has healing properties for respiratory diseases and fortifies the immune system. In this investigation the objective was to identify the presence of antibiotics in this milk and the frequency of appearance, 90 samples of raw goat milk were collected; they came from several goats from the south of Quito. Through the use of the TRISENSOR test kit, the presence of antibiotic residues was identified in the milk, which was destined for human consumption. As a result, the frequencies of appearance obtained of the different types of antibiotic were: 93,33 percent (n equal to 14) positives to beta lactams; 6,66 percent (n equal to1) positives to tetracycline; and 0 percent to sulfacycline. In conclusion, it was possible to demonstrate that the percentages of antibiotics present in the milk of goat are high and this problem not only occurs nationally but also worldwide. The results were compared with similar studies in dairy productions from different countries, such as: Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua and El Salvador, giving all a positive outcome to antibiotic traces, which turns this into a public health problem.en
