The present work is a coprological study of nematodes of amphibians of the Gastrotheca pseustes species, an Ecuadorian amphibian in danger of extinction, which is in captivity in the breeding center Balsa de los Sapos, a place where reproductive processes are carried out and repopulation of these species. The objective of this research was to determine the parasitic load and identify the eggs found from the scientific literature of nematodes in amphibians. For this purpose, the McMaster method with glucose solution was used for the counting and identification of nematodes present in the faeces of 56 animals, 27 females and 29 males of this species. An average parasitic load of 4305.47 epg (eggs per grame) was found with a standard deviation of 740.99 epg and a range between 3072.00 epg – 5680.00 epg; having had a normal morphometric measurements, and due to the age of the animals, it is considered that this parasitic load could be normal for animals in captivity and this could also indicate that the animals are in good husbandry and health conditions. Linear regressions and Pearson correlation were made between the morphometric measurements of the animals and the time in captivity with the parasite load, no significant relationship was found. Regarding the species of nematodes found, those that had the highest frequency were: Aplectana Delirae, Pteroxiascaris Caudacutus, Oxyascaris Caudacutus, Oswaldocruzia Subauricularis and Cosmocerca Podicipinus in order of importance. In such circumstance, it is suggested to perform molecular biology studies to know exactly if the identified species are those that are parasitizing this population.en
