| dc.description | This research aims to determine which are the factors that influence the index of sectorial credit default in Ecuador. The hypothesis proposed seeks to verify a direct relationship between the rate of growth of sector debt and the acceleration of delinquency. The econometric model used an annual panel data estimate (period 2008-2014), considering the seventeen economic sectors of Ecuador, the results confirm the hypothesis; there is a positive relationship between the growth rate in sectorial indebtedness and the acceleration of default rates. It was also demonstrated that the credit default rate in the Ecuadorian financial system is related to variables that on one hand affect the cost of credit (interest rate) and, on the other hand, the ability of borrowers to pay their obligations (wages and trade openness).
