Anxiety during the dental visit is related to unpleasant sounds; music is recognized as an effective, cheap and safe non-pharmaceutical antipharmacological. The study was intended to know the effect of baroque music on anxiety in children attending the dental consultation at the National Music Conservatory of Quito. We randomly evaluated 30 patients, comprised of 15 children in each group, Group A (with music), and Group B (without music), children from 6 to 10 years participated, they were rated with Frankl scale (FS) And facial image (FIS), each before the treatment and at the end of the treatment; The first sampling assessed whether the patients initially had anxiety and some behavior when treated by the stomatologist; The final sampling assessed the effects of this music on anxiety and behavior. In the results using Frankl scale, Group A at first dominated the definitely-negative behavior and the use of baroque music during treatment decreased this behavior to 0 percent, while the positive behavior initially had a 40 percent and at the end, it had 47 percent. No patient had definitively-positive behavior at the beginning, but at the end it obtained 40 percent. Demonstrating that this music relaxes the child and changes their behavior. The Facial Image scale showed that baroque music reduces children anxiety. Initially presented a 60 percent of moderate anxiety at the end it was reduced to 13 percent, in the first sampling the mild anxiety is not present but in the second sampling it reached 47 percent. In group B, when evaluated with FS, the definitively-negative behavior did not exist at the beginning, but at the end it obtained 7 percent (1 child). In FIS, no significant changes were observed in anxiety levels. In other words, patients who were not exposed to this music did not show changes in their behavior. Consequently, baroque music decreases anxiety levels during dental care.en
