Objective: the present study has as purpose to determine the prevalence of micro fractures in anterior teeth present in dental enamel in patients attending the Dental Clinic of the University of the Americas in the period 2016-2. Materials and methods: 70 patients of the dental clinic (35 women and 35 men) were evaluated, all of them being of age, with healthy anterior upper central and lateral incisors or, without restorations. For the observation of the micro fractures, the dental surfaces were dried with the triple syringe. Using a LED light lamp, the light is projected on the palatal part of all the upper incisors for a few seconds. The micro fracture was then marked with a dental marker at the end of its length. With the help of an endodontic millimeter rule, the length of the micro fracture was measured. Another operator made photographic records with a professional camera (NIKON D2500). Results: All the evaluated patients showed micro fractures in their enamel, 70 percent of which reported using fixed orthodontics. It was observed that the greater occurrence of micro fractures happens in the piece 21, in 60 percent of women and 69 percent of men. In relation to length, the longest micro-fracture line is found in womens 12th (8.0 plus minus 1.0 mm) and 21st (7.1 plus minus 1.7 mm) pieces. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it is concluded that the prevalence of micro fractures in dental enamel of anterior teeth is 100 percent without gender difference, the 2.1 tooth being the most affected.en
