Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have been developed semiautonomous and autonomous from the moment of their departure to land, due to the different stages in civilian applications like infrastructure inspection, agriculture, radiation inspection in nuclear industries, and others. For this reason, there is a great interest in the aeronautical industrial market and educational institutions to continue with development and innovation. This project presents a contribution of the applications of unmanned platforms in communication networks, as well as an overview of wireless technologies involved in using these UAV. Furthermore, this job is part of the project that is undertaking the Faculty of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences at the Universidad de las Americas, in order to know the main advantages and benefits of UAV; problems, limits and deprivations that have today and how they will be solved with future technological research. The main components of UAV, problems related to weight and volume limitations of electronic devices on board, are defined in this project. Also, the types of autonomy of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are indicated, because these can become dependents of base stations; finally, the operating limitations on airspace due to civil aviation regulations that has each country, are mentioned. Therefore, this project has four important points about UAV; development and evolution, communications systems used in these platforms, civil applications and the integration of communications networks with unmanned aircraft.en
