| dc.description | This work aims to develop a technical feasibility study for the use of the technology trend Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) inside a University. This project is divided in four chapters: the first one covers the history of “Universidad de Las Americas”, Virtual Support Department and new technological trends focused on the use of personal mobile devices for work purposes. In chapter two, general technical considerations are addressed for strategic development of business policies in order to arise the trend of Bring You Own Device (BYOD). Presents features, advantages, disadvantages, and best practices for adoption of BYOD as a trend. Chapter three provides a comprehensive and technical analysis that includes: the current situation of the BYOD trend and its penetration in mature and emerging markets in several countries worldwide. The economic structure of Ecuador is reviews also focusing on education economy sector. Additionally, it is reviewed the method, methodological tools and research design for data collection previous to its use in this paper. In the final chapter, it introduces a financial-technical analysis of the global network of the University, the organizational structure of the IT Department and the Virtual Support Unit at UDLA, as well as the results of the survey applied to teachers in order to identify their affinity with BYOD. Some interviews are also included to finish the chapter. Finally, it presents the conclusions and recommendations obtained from this research. | en |
