The purpose of this research is to design and build an experimental electric guitar, so its solid body allows any electric circuits; which will give the option to alter the guitars pitch. The research approach used in this dissertation describes and demonstrates the related operational theory of this topic; moreover, it details procedures which will guide in understanding the basic operation of an electric guitar; and finally, it presents the reasons to build this specific model. This study has six chapters; chapter one describes the history of the electric guitar from the beginning until the present day, with the main purpose of understanding and justifying the general and specific objectives of the dissertation. Chapter two presents a theoretical summary of how electric guitars are built, their internal operation, and finally the theory related to the instruments external and internal (electric circuits) structure. Chapter three specifically discusses the design and the manufacture of this model. Chapter four illustrates in detail the external and internal building of the guitar and it also includes some simulations to demonstrate the physical phenomena that give the instrument this singular pitch. Chapter five presents this prototypes differences and limitations, and the outsized variety of commercial models worldwide. Chapter six will offer conclusions and recommendations. The main conclusions drawn from this dissertation show that each component of the electric guitar, even the smallest ones, have an influence in the overall sound of the instrument. The findings from this research also provide evidence of the endless possibilities of pitches that can be achieved with this instrument.en
