| dc.description | Medicinal cannabis is a medicine considered natural because it is extracted from the marijuana plant that has two components, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) the psychoactive element and cannabidiol (CBD) the element with analgesic properties. Cannabis for therapeutic purposes has already been legalized in several countries in the region and the world. Cannabis is used, produced and marketed in Ecuador despite not being legalized; the issue first entered the National Assembly as a bill in 2016 and so far no resolution has been given. The debate around medical cannabis focuses on two points, the doctor and the legal one. This journalistic investigation conducted through interviews shows about the current state of cannabis use in Ecuador from the two central points, which show that there is a cannabis community in the country, which for lack of regulation has been become a social problem, encompassing the economy and people's health. | en |
