dc.descriptionCurrently, the dentist must be able to care for systemically compromised patients, this titling work is based on the creation of a dental care and prevention manual in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus because about 80 percent of the population with this disease suffers compared to type 1 diabetes mellitus that has 20 percent. DM2 is characterized by a hyperglycemia of a consequent defect in insulin secretion generally present in adults over 40 years of age, being a cause of premature mortality in the world population, leading to complications such as: kidney disease, retinopathy, neuropathy and risk Diabetic cardiovascular Diabetes mellitus is also associated with frequent diseases in the oral cavity such as major: dental caries, xerostomia, paraesthesia, ulcers and periodontitis where there is a more direct link. Through this literature review, a compilation of current information was carried out where it allows us to establish a specific manual for adequate care in patients with type 2 diabetes in the dental office, being essential for students and teachers of the UDLA Dental Clinic and in general that so they require it with the objective of improving the quality, assessment and correct diagnosis in dental care, following an adequate protocol from start to finish since the opening of the medical history, a correct anamnesis together with clinical, physical and complementary exams which will allow us make appropriate management and control in the treatment that requires it such as pharmacological (correct use of local anesthetics, antibiotic, antifungal, analgesic prophylaxis).en
