| dc.description | This research work is intended to provide information on the figures of drugs seized in the period 2008-2016, taking into account that this information is very scarce and limited at the time that citizens want to access it to conduct a study or investigation. Therefore, to carry out this academic essay the information provided by the National Directorate of Antinarcotics (DNA) was taken into account. Additionally, it aims to analyze the increase in drug trafficking in the country, and through this analysis determine whether there is a relationship with the increase in crime rates within the country. Also in this sense, the securitization theory is used as the basis for this investigation, determining that the Ecuadorian State has assumed that drug trafficking is a problem that affects the entire society and as through changes both in the Constitution of Ecuador as in the Organic Integral Criminal Code (COIP), these organizations benefited, becoming a threat to state security, and in this case, resulting in an increase in drug use and trafficking as well as the rate of criminality. | en |
