dc.description | Background: Novice women who practice cross fit suffer from pain, edema and loss of function in the upper limb, specifically, at the supra-clavicular level and neck, affecting their rhythm of training and activities of daily living. Objective: To compare the effect of the application of DLM vs. cryotherapy at the supraclavicular and neck levels on pain, edema and upper limb function. Materials and Methods: 20 women who practice cross fit between 18 and 30 years participated in this research. The participants were randomly divided into 2 groups of 5 women each. The first was considered as the Cryotherapy Group (CG) and the second as the Manual Lymphatic Drainage Group (GDLM); each group received the corresponding treatment for 6 sessions, at a rate of 3 times per week. Results: The statistical analysis showed a significant difference in pain reduction (p same 0.001), cervical perimeter (p same 0.04) and edema (p same 0.01). Finally, there was an increase in the function of the upper limb in the GDLM compared to the GC (p same 0.04). Conclusion: The pain, edema and cervical perimeter decreased significantly in the GDLM compared to the CG at the end of the treatment; while the function of the upper limb improved in the GDLM, which did not happen with the GC. | en |
