| Descripción : | Objectives: Identify the clinical considerations that were taken into account for the application of the specific dental treatment in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who attended to the Clinic of Dental Care at the University of the Americas (UDLA), Colon campus. Identify the most commonly used drugs in dental care as well as those that can interact with the base pathology. Determine which the most relevant complementary exams are in the dental care of the patient who carries lupus erythematosus. Materials and methods: Review and data collection from medical records of patients with lupus erythematosus who attended UDLA is dental clinic in the period 2017-1 and 2017-2 (September 2016 - July 2017), through a sheet of data collection with 12 criteria: lupus stage, comorbidities, post-operative complications, medical pharmacological treatment established for these lupus patients, adherence to treatment, interconsultation, mucocutaneous lesions, dental treatment, pharmacological treatment sent by dentistry, complementary examinations, antibiotic prophylaxis and rehabilitation appointments. Evaluating 7000 clinical records it was found that; 20 cases were found to be from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus by distinguishing different registered criteria that allows to define the study. Statistical analysis and tabulation of results using the Excel spreadsheet from the program Microsoft Office for Windows and statistical significance between variables by the Chi-squared test performed for 3 weeks. Results: Through the data collection sheet it was possible to identify several key points that define the dental action, such as, the prevalence of patients with lupus corresponds to a 0.286%, from the dental treatments performed in these patients it was possible to identify a global of 38 dental treatments, where the most frequent treatment is dental prophylaxis with a 50%. Conclusions: Through the study it was determined that it is necessary to identify the stage of lupus in order to establish the care protocol to follow. Understanding this type of pathology where there are always renal, hematologic, cardiovascular and neurological injury, it requires (SLE) an extreme care in the control of pain, stress and antibiotic prophylaxis. |
