| Descripción : | Absolute isolation is a technique that prevents contact with soft tooth-tissues and saliva, making it easier to operate by the professional; however, the use of this technique for long periods can cause pain in the masticatory muscles, and are as follows: The temporal, which is wide fan-shaped, the internal Pterigodeo muscle, is deep and has its origin in the pterygoid fossa, the lateral or outer Pterigodeo, is a deep muscle and consists of two fascicles: Sphenoid and Pterygoid, the upper masseter muscle it is the most powerful, consists of two fascicles: superficial and deep, is the muscle elevator of the mandible and considered the most important, for this, it has been the reason for this study. Thus, to determine if absolute isolation caused pain in the masseter muscle and at what level of intensity, an evaluation was performed in patients 18 to 40 years of age subjected to absolute isolation and showed no conditions in the Temporo-Mandibular; in addition to identifying the level of pain in the masseter muscle through the EVA scale, it was determined whether there was a difference between gender and age variables with the perception of masseter muscle pain due to absolute post-treatment isolation. Of the study, it was obtained as a result that there was pain of the masseter muscle, but mostly mild; in addition, gender and age variables did not influence the perception of pain. On a global basis, the pain indicated by the most evaluated is located between zero to two, levels that are low on the EVA scale, and are: 22.8% do not feel pain, 27.7% feel pain level 1, 28.7% feel a pain Level 2 and the remaining 20.9% feel pain levels between 3 to 8. |
