dc.description | Pregnancy is a normal state in which the embryo-fetus is formed and evolves for nine months until delivery, in this process the woman undergoes a series of changes not only physical but physiological and psychological also causing changes in the saliva and therefore in salivary pH which is an important factor for good oral health. It is for this reason that the objective of this research is to assess the salivary pH during the first, second and third gestation period in women, in this way emphasis will be placed on the good oral health they should have in this gestational period and the importance to periodically visit the dentist. The study was performed on 90 pregnant women, 30 for each trimester and 30 non-pregnant women. These were the control group at the 10D-01 Health Center in the city of Ibarra. The sample was collected in a beaker for 5 minutes. and subsequently measured with a pH-meter previously calibrated, the results provided were mostly acids. Concluding the salivary pH of women in gestational state is more acidic in the first trimester due to the intake of sugary foods, carbohydrates and the frequency in which they are ingested, in addition to the hormonal changes there is a greater predisposition to oral diseases. | en |
