dc.description | The main objective of this study was to assess the exposure-response function produced by the cardiac monitors and respiratory fans´ noise in the neonatology service staff of ―San Vicente de Paul Hospital‖ located at the city of Ibarra. The methodology followed the UNE-EN ISO 9612: 2009 guidelines to noise exposure at work. The LAeq (A) obtained was 59 dB (A) and the dose was 2 percent noise. The noise produced by cardiac monitors and respiratory ventilators was analyzed by using a sound level meter and software for analysis of sound signals (Pro Tools and SPECTRAplus) where the frequencies of 1230 and 1852 Hz were identified as the most influential level of overall noise. It also was applied audiometric test to neonatology personnel which was observed that they do not have significant hearing loss. It should be noted that although there is no evidence of a significant hearing loss, the result of hearing tests could be seen as a slight decrease in 2000 Hz which was probably caused by cardiac monitor alarm. It was also necessary to apply a valuation survey to assess the nuisance caused by the noise of cardiac and respiratory monitors fans threw as a general result, more than 50 percent of respondents perceived inconvenience caused alarm cardiac monitors. | en |
