| dc.description | The objective of this study was to determine the fertility potential for Bos taurus bulls of 6 different races, in "El Rosario" a farm located in the canton Mejia, Pichincha, by the evaluation of reproductive parameters. Eleven bulls were chosen based on selection criteria. An andrological examination and evaluation of semen quality with the CASA system (Computer Assisted Sperm Analysis) were performed. In the andrological examination, body condition, locomotor system, weight and scrotal circumference were evaluated. In the evaluation of seminal volume, color, pH, concentration, motility, live sperm and abnormalities was assessed; making five collections to obtain an average of each parameter, using the method of artificial vagina. Data were analysed in percentage terms and descriptive tables. Variables for sperm quality were estimate by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a confidence level of 95%. As a result, there was no significant difference (p> 0.05) for the variables analysed except for scrotal circumference which presented significant difference due to the variety of races (p <0.05).
