The objectives of this study were to analyze the frequency of presentation, establish the risk factors and the rate of comorbidity between diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypothyroidism in canines. To carry out this retrospective study, individual clinical histories from a veterinary hospital located in Quito, Ecuador were statistically analyzed for the period 2013 to 2019. A total of 105 clinical records with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and/or hypothyroidism were found, of which hypothyroidism was the most frequent diagnosis with 91 cases, 10 cases were identified as diabetes and 4 diagnoses with both endocrinopathies. Most of the cases were observed in males, the most presented age category were small to medium breed geronts, with full reproductive status and the breeds with higher casuistry were mongrels, Poodle and Golden Retriever. It was concluded that despite the lack of a representative database, it was not possible to obtain statistically significant results and carry out statistical analyses to define comorbidity. Race and sex were moderately associated with the diagnosis, whereas age and reproductive status were scarcely associated with the diagnosis. Regarding the level of prediction, through the breed the diagnosis is moderately predictable and through the sex, age and reproductive status it is scarcely predictable.en
