dc.description | Obstetric and gynecological medical care has been the target of criticism in recent years, since in several Latin American countries health care has been linked to the process of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium as a severe expression of institutional violence, initiating research on that would be known as Gineco- Obstetric Violence. In Ecuador, obstetric-gynecological violence exists in both, public and private health centers, although there are protocols and guidelines with recommendations based on the best medical evidence that, in theory, if applied, this type of violence would be prevented. This type of violence directly harms the human sexual and reproductive rights of pregnant women. This study was carried out with the argument that health professionals are the only ones capable to prevent gynecological and obstetric violence, that is why the final objective of this investigation was, using an ethnographic qualitative research method of an educational type, based on a critical bibliographic review , the analysis of workshops based on the subject and the student experience in the career of medicine and in the year of medical internship, to formulate a critical pedagogical proposal addressed to undergraduate medicine students and health professionals, which contains the basic knowledge that can promote the generation of a medical practice based on the empowerment in health, and in this way generate an educational medicine that allows the mother to recover her autonomy over her pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium process, protecting both the maternal and child physical well-being and the emotional well-being of the woman.

| es_ES |
