Descripción : In an International System, where countries are immersed in growing relationships of economic interdependence, because natural resources are scarce and are not distributed correctly; These relationships have been reinforced by the effects of globalization and technological advances in economic interconnectivity. Therefore, there is a need to attract other countries; since the reduction in use of hard power, that is, the payment of incentives, or the reduction in the use of the effectiveness of military force, in order, to maintain its political influence and thus obtain economic gains. What this means, is that this is a growing concern that the States must observe, when incorporating comercial diplomacy, as a mechanism to attract economic gains. It is for this reason that the present investigation intends to analyze the implementation of soft power, through the strategies of commercial diplomacy, and to cover the absence of research on this topic. In addition, it aims to determine if commercial diplomacy activities have an impact on the attraction of foreign direct investment. The research will analyze three specific activities of commercial diplomacy: number of trade fairs, chambers of commerce, trade diplomats, using the parameter of direct foreign investment (FDI) for a comparative analysis, in order to determine if there is a correlation between them. To demonstrate if this correlation exists, will be used and will analyze a case study, specifically related to the country of Peru in a period from 2000 to 2017. In the end, the investigation determines that there is no correlation between commercial diplomacy activities and foreign direct investment, in the case of Peru. Therefore, due to external factors, a total correlation with each other cannot be determined.
