Descripción : The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects produced by the oral administration of a stimulant appetite drug, Buclizine Hydrochloride, at two concentrations (0.05 and 0.1 percent) at a dose of 0.16 ml / kg / day; in two experimental groups and one witness; through the assessment of zootechnical and financial parameters: average daily weight gain (ADWG), cumulative weight gain (CWG), efficiency index (IE) and Cost/Benefit analysis (C/B). Thirteen thousand six hundred fattening birds of the line Cobb 500 were used in study, from day 1 to 44. The sample population was chosen under inclusion and exclusion criteria; the chickens were received and randomly classified in three equitable groups, record cards were implemented, protocols were developed to standardize activities and Buclizine Hydrochloride was administered for 38 days, respecting the 6 days of product withdrawal, before the slaughtering. The chicks were weighed twice a week, during the six weeks of fattening. For the analysis of the results were used: Analysis of Variances (ANOVA), Tukey HDS Test, Efficiency Index (EI) and Cost/Benefit analysis, was calculated. The results showed that the group under oral administration of Buclizine Hydrochloride 0.05 percent (Group 1) with respect to ADWG, had an ever-increasing weight behavior throughout the fattening period, in relation to the group under oral administration of 0.1 percent Buclizine Hydrochloride (Group 2) and control group (Group 3); according to the CWG at finishing of fattening, the ANOVA showed that Group 1 obtained a p value of 0.000 (0.05), there being a significant difference of means between the three groups; with values of: 2.97kg/chicken for Group 1; 2.76kg/chicken for Group 2 and 2.67kg/chicken for Group 3. For EI, Group 1 obtained the best Efficiency Index (578.6) over the two remaining groups. In the economic analysis, Group 1 reached the best result, with a value of 1.07 dollars. Those results suggest the use of 0.05 percent Buclizine Hydrochloride at a dose of 0.16ml/kg/day, during the fattening stage.
