| dc.description | Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is one of the greatest sources of resource inflows and capital formation in Latin American economies. This region is characterized by the institutional instability and its impact upon economic variables. Some of the FDI is determinants they are the institucional framework of the economies, macroeconomic variables and location factors. In consequence, this research aims to determine if there is a relation between changes in the institutional framework, as measured by the number of annual reforms, and FDI. For this, an econometric model was executed with seven representative countries from the region for the 2004-2014 period. Results suggest that fiscal institutional instability in Latin America is a disincentive for FDI. The number of tax reforms in each country were used as a proxy of institutional instability. | en |
