Descripción : Third molars are the last teeth to erupt inside the oral cavity, being the main causal factor in the development of different pathologies, so their surgical extraction is indicated in most of the cases. Objectives: This research aims to determine the prevalence in patients with impacted third molars with different inclusions in the upper and lower jaw. In the same way, describe the position of third molars according to the Winter and classification of Pell and Gregory and compare the prevalence between both of them. Results: the results obtained in the first classification of Pell & Gregory reflect that class A is the most prevalent in the pieces 18 and 28 with 63.2% and 68.3% respectively, while in the Winter classification the vertical position was the one that prevailed with 84.6% in piece 18 and with 90.0% in piece 28. In the mandible it was found that in the first classification of Pell & Gregory class B has a higher prevalence with 52.5% in piece 38 and 40.0% in the piece 48, and in the second classification class II occurred with more frequency in 46.2% in piece 38 and 51.2% in piece 48. In classification of Winter, the most predominant position is the mesium – angulated with 41.0% in piece 38 and 31.7% in piece 48. Conclusions: it was determined based on classification of Winter, that the angled mesium position is the one that occurs most frequently in pieces 38-48; and according to the classification of Pell & Gregory, a higher predominance was found in class B according to the depth of insertion, and in class II according to the inclusion within the mandibular ramus.
