Bad breath is a condition that can be caused by several factors, for example, the association of some systemic diseases by a physiological imbalance of the body or the administration of medicines that can lead to alterations in pH or causal xerostomy, which leads to in halitosis. Objective: To determine the efficacy of oral mouthwashes by decreasing halitosis through the measurement of salivary pH. Materials and Methods: The present study was developed in 45 people who arrive to the Dental Care Center of the University of the Americas. Female and male patients between 18 and 80 years of age who have systemic disease are evaluated with the help of the halimeter. It is a detector equipment of volatile sulfur compounds that confirms that the patient carries sea halitosis. The patient is asked to exhale in the halimeter, after 5 seconds a scale of 0 - 5 appears showing the level of halitosis that the patient presents. It is considered that the patient presents halitosis from 3 on the scale of the halimeter, then the pH strips placed on the dorsal surface of the tongue will be used for thirty seconds, the patient will be given 15ml of mouth rinse with chlorhexidine and the other half of patients mouthwash with triclosan is used, kept in the mouth for thirty seconds and proceeds to take the pH sample to see what were the changes. Results: After having collected the information from patients with systemic diseases and from the pH sample before and after the use of mouth rinses based on chlorhexidine and triclosan, it was found that the majority of patients presented a pH of 5 causing a rise in the use of both mouthwashes, however in the group of people who use mouthwash based on chlorhexidine is a greater increase in pH.en
