Cephapirin is a first-generation cephalosporin with an effect on the pathogens that cause puerperal endometritis, the present study was carried out in the province of Pichincha in 4 dairy farms located in the cantons of Mejía, Quito and Pedro Vicente. At each farm, lactating cows were selected resulting in a total of 223 animals, using a representative sample of 55 animals. The treatment was applied only to those animals that were positive (18) to this pathology in their different degrees of affection through the Metricheck system. The study was divided into three stages, the first one was the selection of cattle that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria determined for this experiment, the second was the diagnosis at day 21 of the selected cattle and the treatment was applied to positive animals, the third stage was for analysis of the field and laboratory results of the mucus content extracted from the cervix at day 21. The results obtained at the end of this investigation determined that when performing the gynecological check at day 21 does not exist relationship between the inflammation of the endometrium and the degree of infection and that can only be determined by extracting the contents of the cervix, so it was concluded that the use of the Metricheck system is effective for the early diagnosis of this disease, however, at day 30 there is a relationship between inflammation and degree of infection. On the same day, it was determined that the positive animals decreased (4) and the degree of affection was lower, concluding that cephapirin is effective for puerperal endometritis diagnosed at day 21. The last result obtained from this study determined that pathogens were the which were found in greater proportion, these being staphylococcus aereus and streptococcus spp. It is presumed that the pathogens found enter the uterus by iatrogenies caused during the gynecological checkup after birth or in the management at the time of delivery.en
