| Descripción : | This research aims to identify the US foreign policy strategies towards the Republic of Cuba during the administrations of Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama. The study is descriptive and is oriented to identify the nature of the power elements of US policy towards Cuba and the circumstances and strategies that guided the three presidents. This research will be analyzed under a realistic approach and liberalism. The realistic approach will be analyzed from the point of view of the superpower in relation to Cuba, while the liberal approach will be analyzed from the point of view of cooperation between States. The conclusions of the presidential periods of Eisenhower and Kennedy, regarded to Cuba, demonstrated the use of military and economic sanctions. According to Obama administration, it favored the use of soft power through persuasion or negotiation. In conclusion, it is necessary to point out that there has been used power in its different forms (hard and soft) in US foreign policy in the presidential administrations previously mentioned within the framework of the political and historical context. |
