Resumen : | La emisión de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) a nivel mundial aumenta progresivamente, lo que contribuye a manera directa al cambio climático a través de los daños producidos sobre la atmosfera... |
Descripción : | Global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions increase progressively, contributing directly to climate change through damage to the atmosphere. The livestock industry is responsible for the generation of large quantities of manure, which once started its decomposition process emits an abundant amount of GHGs among these 668 million tons of CO2eq per year. In Ecuador there are about 1.6 million head of pigs, which generates about 2,750 million kilograms of manure. Currently microalgae and cyanobacteria are being investigated because of their high affinity to the CO2 capture process, which has been classified as a tool for the development of new Clean Development Mechanisms (CDMs). The main objective of the present study was to identify the genus of microalgae or cyanobacteria with greater affinity and efficiency compared to the decomposition process, comparing the performance of three different experimental ones: one for each genus and a third for its consortium. For this experiment the microalgae genus Pleutococcus sp. With code CMIE - K2-003 and cyanobacteria Rhabdodema sp. With code CMIE - J1-003. Both genera are owned by the energy biotechnology laboratory - BIOTE C belonging to the Corporation for energy research and are part of the collection of microalgae for research of the equator -CMIE. The results obtained suggest that the genus of microalgae. Pleurococcos sp. (CMIE-K2-003) was the one that presented greater affinity to the process of CO2 capture by having a greater number of individuals in cell counters, the higher growth rate, the shorter required doubling time and greater weight in the form of microagal biomass. |
