Descripción : This work was oriented in the interpretation by a brass quintet of eight Creole waltzes adapted to the albazo, mestizo musical genres that are present in Ecuador and that arose in colonial times. The Creole waltz is a musical genre that dances and sings the Ecuadorian mestizo, was derived from the European waltz and came to America in the late eighteenth century. On the other hand, the albazo developed in the colony and has direct roots with the indigenous yaraví, for that reason, is a traditional musical genre that sings and dances the indigenous and mestizo Ecuadorian. These two, considered mestizo musical genres in Ecuador have been developed over time and have been inherited through an auditory and oral tradition. From these, this work carried out an experimentation that involves adapting the musical and rhythmic form of the waltz creole to that of the albazo. For this purpose it was necessary to investigate the emergence of mestizo popular music, but especially of the waltz creole and albazo in Ecuador through physical and digital documents, in addition a musical analysis of both genres was performed. The musical analysis was used as reference to make the adaptations.
