dc.descriptionLidocaine is the most commonly used local anesthetic within the dental practice for performing several procedures, to which the vasoconstrictor is most commonly added epinephrine. It is believed that the use of vasoconstrictor has influence in the cardiovascular system causing alterations in the same, however also these changes and alterations in heart rate and blood pressure are attributed to the pain perceived by the people during the administration of the anesthetic. Objective: To evaluate changes in heart rate and blood pressure as well as selfperception of pain following the application of 2 percent lidocaine maxillary infiltrative anesthesia with 1: 80,000 epinephrine in adult patients with no systemic involvement. The study consisted of correlating certain variables to obtain information about whether or not there were changes in heart rate and blood pressure after the application of a local anesthetic such as lidocaine, as well as its relationship with self-perception of pain. This study was carried out in 40 patients of different ages; The level of education of the participants, primary, secondary and university, as well as gender, male and female, was considered; Values of blood pressure, both systolic and diastolic, heart rate and pain measured with the visual analogue scale. As a result, there were cardiovascular changes; There is an increase in systolic blood pressure (SBP), there is a decrease in diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and the most representative increase in heart rate (HR), however, there is no fully representative relation in terms of pain And increased or decreased changes in heart rate and blood pressure. In conclusion, the changes in heart rate and blood pressure before a vasoconstrictor anesthetic are present, but not necessarily with an increase in them since there are reactions that contribute to the reduction of these.en
