Descripción : The partial edentulism is a pathology irreversible, which entails the dental loss and afflicts a large number of the world population. Those who suffer from this condition are diminished their quality of life and affect their self-esteem, with this background you chose the theme “prevalence of edentulism partial according to the classification of Kennedy in the city of Quito,” by which investigated the scientific framework of this problem, based on the variables edentulism partial and classification of Kennedy with its covariates age, gender and dental arches. The objective was to define the prevalence of edentulism partial according to the classification of Kennedy in the habitants of the city of Quito, as a basis for information the edentulism partial class three predominates in early ages, affecting men and women in both maxillaries, promoting as a hypothesis that the edentulism class three of Kennedy prevails in patients over 30 years of feminine gender in the lower jaw, under a descriptive approach, cross-sectional, observational and epidemiological. It conducted surveys to a sample of 384 persons according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion, applied clinical observation and tabulation of results, was used tables and charts according to variables of study, whose relevant results were that: the Quito population class three of Kennedy is more prevalent with a 82,8 percent, class two with 19,93 percent, Class one with 15.41 percent, and class four with 11.39 percent; according to age of 30-39 years, prevailed the class three with 54,67 percent, the feminine gender class three excelled with 31,83 percent and in the upper arch the class three tainted with a 26.80 percent. With regard to the discussion and conclusions, this research effort is the basis for recommending the periodic holding of this type of study at provincial and national level by public-private partnerships, to raise awareness among professional for the development of techniques to prevent, diagnose and create a plan of rehabilitative treatment to reduce the rates of partial edentulism in the population; finally, to promote the oral health care among the inhabitants of the city of Quito.
